I would classify this place as great if you are a tourist and looking for a place for typical good pub fare with microbrews. The atmosphere is pretty focused on being a restaurant first and the beer an afterthought. Even though we live in Glenwood Springs, when we want to go to a brewery we find ourselves traveling down to Carbondale or Eagle instead of going here. This is a very family friendly place- there seem to be more kids here than people appreciating beers which says something. That being said, the beer is A-OK. Nothing bad. Nothing outstanding. Their Vapor Cave IPA is a safe IPA - pretty standard. The No Name Nut Brown is also pretty average, with no outstanding flavors (although I do appreciate the name because we live in No Name.) They usually have a guest Mead on tap too if someone in your party doesn't care for beer. Food is pretty decently consistently good. I know when I come here I will like pretty much anything I order. But when you can walk down the street to the Pullman and get a micro along with a creative dish for just $1 or $2 more an entree, it's hard to justify coming to Glenwood Canyon. Keep in mind that although it is open later (11pm/12), the kitchen still closes earlier- you cannot order food past 10pm I believe.

Very good food, I had the buffalo hamburger. The cheddar beer soup was also very good. They were very busy on a Monday night but service was very good.

The food was amazing, I had the ravioli the first time! Although, I have been to something like 25 breweries just in colorado and I would say the beer here lacked the bite that you find pretty much anywhere else. Not saying bad beer (I have tried everything they had on tap), just not very bold for what you expect from a micro. Good atmosphere on the restaurant side, little to touristy for me in the tap house side but that could of just been a fluke. Was not a fan of how they do Growlers here. They had them in a cooler already poured with no date or anything on it. So because of that, you have no idea if it was poured that day or even that week for that matter.

My wife and i had a great visit here. We tried two of the beers ( both were great) and had some pretzel rolls as light apps. Our server, Eric, was awesome and happily answered all of our questions about the beer and what to do in town. I doubt i will ever be back in Glenwood Springs but if i am I will stop by the brew pub.

I was hankering a burger and my wife wanted a micro brew, so we gave this place a shot. We were glad we did. While it was a little over priced, the food was delicious. We shared a warm pretzel to start and it was probably the best pretzel I've ever had. Only $2, GET ONE!!! I had the buffalo burger and it was super moist and super tasted. Great toasted bun, flavorful, and filling. My wife had a wonderful salad with seasonal fruits and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Our waiter was the best we had during our entire 48 hour stay in GS. If you like pub food and great micro beers, stop in and you won't be disappointed...until the check comes and then you might think it was a little pricey. Enjoy!

Everything is adequate; if you've ever been to a brewpub, this one is like most others. Service was fine, food is fine (I had fish and chips, my companions had other things). We tried three of their brews, and had them fill a growler for us. (They swapped out our glass growler for one of their own.) No complaints, but nothing stood out. I would come again, but I would look for other restaurants first.

If I could just grab a pint to go, I may have enjoyed this place a bit more. I think there were more children in highchairs than craft beer drinkers in stools when we visited. When our server came to greet us, he asked if he could start us off with drinks, "Root beer, iced tea, water?" I thought it was somewhat amusing/surprising that in a brewery, a brewery that has actually won quite a number of medals at GABF and other competitions, beer wasn't even rattled off on the list of beverage offerings. I guess the beer isn't always in the spotlights at this brewery? We ordered the No Name Nut Brown and the Octoberfest. Both beers were pretty solid, but nothing I'd go out of my way to drink again. I did like that their beers all reference either a nearby town or landmark - makes it easy to remember. The other beers to choose from seemed to be pretty pedestrian - a couple of wheat beers (honey and raspberry), an IPA, and such. Our server, who made us feel kind of uncomfortable to begin with, seemed disappointed that we had just stopped in to grab a beer, so we placed a pity order for an appetizer. It was pretty lackluster.

Really good craft beers on tap, and the homemade root beer is fantastic. I sampled: - Vapor Cave IPA (good but missing the next level sweet and hops of Modus or Stone) - Defiance English Pale Ale (they were brewing this the day I had it and the malt bill smells great, tastes great too) - Hanging Lake Honey Ale (sweet and super bubbly, great for hot summer days. Grabbed a growler of this for a BBQ) - Sunlight American Wheat (interestingly drinks more like a Kolsch than a wheat, but also refreshing with good flavor). Didn't really get the chance to eat here, but the kids had root beer floats (twice!). Will definitely come back here again.

Friendly and attentive staff. my family enjoyed the home-brewed rootbeer and beer-cheese soup. The soft-twisted pretzel appetizer came out soft and fresh. The honey mustard that comes with it, is sweet and powerful, but i suggest dipping it right in the beer-cheese soup. It's delicious! my family all enjoyed their meals, but I'd stay away from the prime rib, its decent, but for the high price, but just not worth it. It was pretty tough like it had been sitting a long time. All in all, we enjoyed our visit, and I'd recomend it to anyone visiting.

Stopped in for lunch...despite average reviews. Good service and unique dishes and drinks. Nachos were above average. We received stellar service. Highly recommended place for drinks when visiting Glenwood Springs.

Excellent food, particularly the blue cheese burger and the fish tacos. The beer flight offered a nice variety. Friendly happy staff.

Incredible service. Great brews-- only regret is that we wish we had been more hungry because the evening specials sounded amazing. Nevertheless, the Beer Cheese Soup and Bavarian Pretzels Sticks were a top notch bite. Can't wait to return.

Excellent beer and always good food. The burgers are juicy and delicious and love all the beer varities.

I won't even bother to list out everything I've eaten here and complain about it, the list of complaints would run too long. There are plenty of other places in town with much better food. However, it's a great place to meet with family and friends, and they have good alcohol. Good atmosphere and good service. Suffice it to say, if your kids like greasy pizza, or if you are craving greasy pub food, you'll enjoy it. I only go if I'm meeting someone there, or I'm craving a canyon bulldog.

  • Ashley M.

We just sat at the bar because we wanted a couple of beers before we walked around the town and the beer was decent, nothing to write home about. We also ordered some sweet potato tots and they were mushy and cold so we did not eat them.

  • Mark M.

Good food, decent beers, friendly service. I've had the prime rib here several times, lots of flavor and very tender. Nice atmosphere and reasonable prices, I'll definitely be back!

  • Carli D.

Nice atmosphere, but total tourist trap. If you're looking to go where all the out-of-towners are, this is it. Can't blame them, though, the beer is great year round with seasonal specials, like the Strawberry Daze that replaces the Grizzly Creek Raspberry Wheat in June for the local Strawberry Days festival. They can also give you a sampler to try out different brews that they have available at the time. The menu has changed throughout the years, and I miss some of the old menu items, but the presentation of the food as of late is beautiful! Taste is spot on, too. Pool tables and Foosball upstairs and there's always some kind of game on. When it is crowded though, the place can get kind of loud. Try and go during the off season instead of after a day of hiking Hanging Lake, on the river or on the slopes in the winter time.

I have just recently moved to Glenwood and have been to almost every brewery in Colorado and food wise the Glenwood Canyon Brewpub stands out as one of the best! As a former New Englander I really enjoyed the fish and chips as it is hard to find in a land locked state. It was perfectly crisp on the outside, flavorful batter and you could tell it was fresh. It came with crisp fries that were well seasoned. I had the honey ale beer and the raspberry both were lightly hopped, refreshing and paired well with the fish and chips. My friend had the Tex-Mex burger and she said the BBQ sauce was flavorful and the jalapenos added just the right amount of spice. She couldn't say enough about the sweet potato tots which I sampled as well, yum!! Lucky to have such a gem in my new town!

  • James W.

Craft beers= A+ Food= A+ Staff= A+ I suggest the fish tacos and the nut brown ale. You won't be disappointed.

  • Nicole S.

My sister and I split a tex mex burger which we thought was pretty good. The downfall was the poor/unfriendly service and the awful smell coming from the building next door- enough to make you loose your appetite.

  • Ashley B.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this place. Been here a few times mostly for beer. I would call the beer "safe". it's all tasty but none of it is particularly interesting. Honey wheat, raspberry wheat, a straight forward red, a lighter porter, and a nondescript (like literally they do not describe it) IPA. If you go during happy hour (4-6 or 6:30 I think) the pints are $1 off so ours were $3-3.5 which is a good deal for locally made beer. I am amazed that in the recent surge of breweries, not a single one has been built in Glenwood Springs, besides this one. I think the moment that changes, this place will lose a ton of their clientele. We've never had particularly amazing service here, and last time although our server was nice, he didn't come to our table for close to 10 minutes and he got my beer order wrong in repeating it to me, so I corrected him, he affirmed my correction, then still ordered me the wrong beer. Only tried a flatbread appetizer in terms of food, and it was fine. We tried the pesto chicken flatbread and I thought the flavors were good, but the chicken was obviously already cooked and cooled before it went on the pizza, which I know is typical, but it gives it that gamey reheated taste I just hate. I also think that for as pleasing as the flavors were, they all probably came straight from a Sysco truck, pesto included. We always come here when we're in town, normally just for one round of beers, and I think that's the best use of this place. It's a lot of predictable and easy-drinking beer, so come here to start the evening, and then hopefully go somewhere a bit more interesting. This is a good compromise, however, if you have adults who want to drink and also have kids in tow.

First, we had dirty utensils that we had to send back. I wasn't super impressed with the beer, it was ok. The veggie burger was pretty decent. It was an alright experience for just passing through town.

Fish and chips are awesome., as I was the cheesesteak. The beer selection is good with some of their beers having won various awards. I particularly like the no name nut brown and the vapor cave IPA. Their double IPA is also very nice. Overall a good selection of pub style food.

After waiting 30 minutes for water I made the mistake of ordering a starter and ended up waiting another 30 minutes for that. I just had to leave after that I couldn't stand this awful service.

  • Karyn S.

I got the tex mex burger. I liked my burger a lot. My daughter got the kids four cheese pizza and a bacon and cheese soup. She loved the soup but the pizza could have been better. My husband got the canyon burger and loved it! We would definitely come back!!!

Best tomato bisque soup I have ever had. Cup won't cut it, get a bowl!!!! Also the Wedge salad with sirloin steak ... fantastic.

Overall great experience. Typical Colorado brewpub. We had a few of their starters off the menu, which where quite good. Their proprietary brews were very tasty. Great place to spend a few hours with friends and family.

Awesome Mediterranean salad-burgers are average. We loved the raspberry wheat beer. They have big windows that open up and is really nice. Across from the train station which is kind of cool.

  • Logan S.

I only had beer this time but it was amazing. I'm so glad we gave this place a second chance. We only had beer but it was amazing. Service was also great. Will for sure come back when we are in town again. They just need another brewery for a little friendly competition.

Honestly some of the best restaurant nachos I've ever had! Great flavor, yummy toppings, fresh salsa - highly recommended. We had a couple beer flights so we were able to sample all of them, and can't say there are any we didn't like. The beer cheese soup and pretzels with honey mustard are great too!

A Few Locals told me to try this place if I like Good Craft beers and it wasnt disappointing. I ordered the Flight of Beers. Comes with 12 about 4 oz samples. I must say the Whiskey Porter was my favorite by far. Whiskey and beer absolutely great. They Serve brunch as well. I ordered the Bison Burger with Fries and Medium Well. Very Little Pink on the inside the way I like it. Moist and Delicious and I could of ordered one more for the road. The fries were crisp and good standard restuarant variety. Great Server who always checked up on us. We Sat by the Brew room with the big tanks and clear glass so you can see people working. My friend ordered the Chicken wings and they had lots of meat on them and i could smell the spicy sauce. We left full and satisfied.

Great food. The only thing that didnt make sense is the the Growler is cheaper than a pitcher of beer. The waitress should have suggested the growler. The portabello sandwich was great. Also had the appetizer- sloppy joe which was a mix of Elk, Buffalo and Hamburger. I tried the prime rib panini which was good as well. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Their mash potatoes were banging! The nachos were covered in lettuce, never seen that before and not sure It was the best idea.

Awesome....amazing food. The nachos with chicken were some of the best I had. The enchilada was delicious as well...great portions...nice atmosphere...the beer was good too!!

Honestly, I'm surprised to read so many raves about the beer. I tried several, and only the Raspberry Wheat was any good. The others were mediocre at best. For beer and service I'd give this place two stars - the curly haired bartender obviously hates being there and was kind of surly. Things vastly improved when a woman took over, but by that time we were ready to go. We got a couple things to go (bratwurst and a half rack of ribs). Both of those were better than we'd expected, so there's the third star. :)

Delicious dinner! There was a bit of a wait, so we grabbed a beer and waited in the lobby. I had the Hanging Lake honey ale--delicious!!! Once we were seated, everything was done very quickly & efficiently--without feeling rushed. Our waiter was great, our steaks were great, and the beer was great! Would definitely recommend.

Great beer, OK food and lackluster service. I mentioned to the kid up front that I hadn't been here before, which he - without a word - took to mean I needed to sit at a table near screaming kids. No. I moved to a bar, where I mentioned to the bartender that I was a first-timer and wanted a beer. More silence, so I ordered an IPA that was on the menu. Would it be too much to point at the listing of the available beers hanging above the bar, some of which are not on the menu? The bratwurst sandwich was adequate, but the touted (here) garlic mashers were too salty. All-in-all not too bad, but mostly because of the great beer. But the employees need to be a little more forth-coming with service. I think that's why they're there.

  • Chris D.

Went in and sat at the bar and ordered a flight--should have stayed there and focused on the beer and not ventured to a table. The imperial red was my fave with the stout not far behind. I felt the IPA was under-hopped and the honey was just ok. Beer overall was pretty good. Moved to a table for dinner and that's when things went downhill. Service was terrible and the place was jammed with staff. Kids pizza was decent, spinach artichoke dip was not good and tasted mostly like mayo. It was impossible to get another round of beers so we opted for the check instead. Beer=good Food=bad Service=terrible

I LOVE YOU AND I MISS YOU, COLORADO BEER. I came here pre-hiking at Hanging Falls, and got the nachos. YUM. I also got a flight of different beers, and enjoyed them all, even the light beer which isn't usually my thing. I would (almost) make the drive from Denver just for the beer. Our waiter was awesome and super helpful as well, giving us great tips on the beer.

First things first, these were the best nachos I have had in a very long time. I wish it was a lot closer to home because I could be a regular on that alone. I think this place must have matured quite a bit since it opened because I did not see any of the complaints that were voiced in the earlier reviews and will echo most of what I see in the newer ones. The place was packed on a Thursday summer evening. At one point we could see that there was a short wait, but it moved quickly, it is a big place. There were clearly many tourists like us, both plenty of mature groups and a few young families with kids but I also saw (and could hear their beer modulated conversations) nearby table customers who were younger locals, drinking, eating and taking work related calls at the table. We got a nice table just outside the open window wall to the sidewalk patio, but not street side which was perfect with us. We got some shade from the building yet really fresh outside air. Our waitperson was efficient, helpful but busy and suggested some beers that fit my husband's descriptive request. There are other beers he would like to try someday if we get back, though he did like what he got. Besides the huge nacho plate, we also ordered the chicken enchiladas, and that too was huge. After finishing the nachos, we could not finish the enchiladas, but wish we could have. The black bean/corn side was especially nice. Needless to say, we could not have even considered dessert.

Fish and chips!!!! Make sure you get the chips too (not the fries). Big chunks of cod that are just awesome! Not greasy and a lot of taste! The Mediterranean salad is also a good pick. I loved the honey ale but you really can't go wrong with any. 4 people, with beer, less than $70. Way cool!

Been here many times on various stays in Glenwood Springs. The food is decent but the staff can sometimes be lacking in attention to detail and friendliness. They just shovel people in and out of this place all weekend long.

Perfect vegan/vegetarian friendly place to get beer right off the river in downtown Glenwood! We came here after a rafting trip with huge appetites for veggie burgers and got just what we were dreaming of. The black bean and quinoa burger is made in-house and hit the spot. Since its hand formed it has a little trouble staying together when you pick it up- but the pillowy bun helps make up for that and the veggie burger is served with tomato, bell pepper and lettuce. It doesn't have a vegan a suave option- so ketchup or mustard is recommended. Or getting an avocado smashed on there in place of sauce would be delicious!! We also have the sweet potato tots, which were delicious but again didn't come with a vegan sauce option so dipped in ketchup instead. Our bartender, Erin, was attentive, friendly and fun! We ended up getting a flight of the award winning beers- all of which were balanced and went down easy. Beer wise we flew- raspberry wheat, summer wheat, London ale, and the Irish red ale. We chose a color and flavor variety across the spectrum and Jade and I both liked all of them- which isn't always our case. Vegans watch out- there is honey in many of the beers but they are well marked and staff is knowledgeable!! This place is a keeper. #yoursaucyvegan yoursaucyvegan.com

Just had beer here but I absolutely loved the peach wheat beer. Perfect subtle fruit taste without being overly fruity like most fruit beers. The honey ale was also really good. Great location within walking distance to the hot springs pool. I would like to try the food next time we visit.

  • Nicole M.

This is a good stop after rafting or hiking but the food is just normal pub food. The beers all have awards on them though so I recommend trying them out. The sweet potato tots were not the best. The service was good and it's good for big groups as they had a lot of big tables. Kid friendly too.

This place is truly amazing. We came here last weekend and split the nachos with a Flight of beers. They were all delicious. Loved the Grizzly Creek Raspberry Wheat, St. James Irish Red Ale, and the Defiance English Pale Ale. The cider was also great too. We loved the nachos so much we came back for them and more beer! Great service here. The restaurant is one of the biggest in town and we didn't have to wait to be seated for any of our visits. Only regret was not taking a growler home...

Really yummy pretzel & House IPA to start. The kids had chicken fingers and smiley fries (they are experts and declared them great). The hubs had a veggie burger out of left field and said he would order it again. My salmon and gluten free pasta was delish. We would definitely come back again!! John our server was great!!!

I can't speak of the food and honestly i don't care since this is a brewery :) I avoided this place for a while only after reading so many negative reviews but I am a beer aficionado and a lover of sour beer , yesterday i had the chance of trying your sour beer , i was extremely impressed and want to congratulate you on a job well done ... Thank you! I've tried Jester King, Russian River and many more and yours comes up there if not even the best i've ever had

Arrived here about 1/2 hour before they stopped serving dinner. Had the Prime Rib which was amazing. Girlfriend had the Fish and Chips. Both very good and lots of food. Had the spinach artichoke dip which was okay....a little pasty. They only serve their beer so tried the Hanging Lake Honey Ale. Similar to Bud Light. Very good! I recommend this place to eat. Very good service, food, and drinks!

My wife, four kids and I really enjoyed this place. The warm pretzels appetizers and Hanging Lake Honey Ale were very good. The menu items were a pleasant twist on typical pub fare such as the Bourbon Salmon I enjoyed. My wife loved her wicked Mac N Cheese which included elk of all things. We finished off the night with a flourless chocolate cake and apple pie. The service was also nice with all workers helping out as they walked by, not just leaving it up to the server. We'd go here again when in the area.

  • Katie E.

Passing through the area, we stopped back in to satisfy a craving for a good pub burger. The burgers hit the spot, especially the barbecue sauce on the tex mex burger, and the hefty portion of fish and chips did not disappoint. We sipped on a couple of Cafe Brebaje coffee porters on nitro and enjoyed the coffee forwardness and milky finish.

We went here during a girls trip last weekend looking for a hearty lunch before we started our "touristy" activities for the day. This place is gigantic! There wasn't many people in there for being 1130 on a Saturday, but I guess nice for us because our table of 6 got seated immediately. We all helped ourselves to drinks, I myself got a beer because who goes to a brewery and doesn't try something new? I got the honey brew which was good. Not mind-blowing, but honestly I'm not much of a beer person. It was only $5.50 when I was expecting closer to $8 because it was a huge glass. That was great! The food was all good. Everyone liked what they ordered and most people cleared their plates. I got the Tex-mex burger with a side of sweet potato tots. I LOVED these! They were probably the highlight of the meal for me, because I love sweet potatoes and they were made really well. Crispy on the outside, dipped in ranch- perfect! Our waiter was...decent. He didn't seem to have a sense of humor and we had to ask for napkins/silverware. But there was a girl who also tended to our table and was so conversational and fun, she was great. She was giving us tips what to do- we actually ended up doing some of the stuff she told us about. If I'm in the area it wouldn't be the first place I want to go to, but I wouldn't mind going back.

My family and I visit Glenwood Springs at least once a summer, and this place is a definite visit every single time. The beer is always good. My favorite is the brown ale. The food is typical pub food. I enjoy the fish and chips. Kids meals are served on a free frisbee that they can take home. Prices are adequate for the town.

Glenwood Springs is awesome so I am pretty sure I will love everything in this town. Great brewery with open doors and a large menu. I got the TEx-Mex burger but w chicken and it was delicious (and spicy)! I got the honey lager, easy and light to drink on a hot summer day. Fun little find and can't wait to go back.

Some places in this world are just plain fun, and this joint falls squarely in that category! Fun service, an excellent selection of drinks, and a wonderfully crowded menu that is overflowing with unusual takes on classic dishes. I absolutely loved it here, I had the "Tex Mex Burger" and one of their House nut brown ales (a 20oz., which is a fun option to have!) however, I left it at four stars because it might be too much for a lot of people. If you're up for it, though? You might just fall in love :)

I often make the journey between Grand Junction and Denver, which is a 4 hour drive on a good day. During those long, lonely drives my mind often wanders. Sometimes I think about how to diversify my investments wisely, sometimes I contemplate life's deeper meanings, and sometimes I just want beer. This was one of those last kinds of mind-wandering. What an awesome place! Well done brain. GCB has many award winning drafts. We got a sampler and were particularly impressed with the Irish red and Imperial Stout. Paired those delicious beverages with a wonderful pile of nachos and really enjoyed our visit. Missed the happy hour, but it is from 4 til 6 during the week. Not sure about weekends. Fun atmosphere, spacious and rustic feel, cool views, and good prices. Service was slow that day for the place not being very busy (had to wait a long time for our check and for it to be processed). Overall, worth the wait and we will be back.

Glenwood Canyon Brewing is a great place to hang out and chill. Everything about it was fun and busy! That may be too much for some people, but here it is--There was plenty of seating, lots of people, many options, TVs for sports fans...And, that's just the setting! It's central and conveniently located--across the interstate from the hot springs, which we went to afterwards. The food and drinks are delicious. Blackened Mahi is where it's at! I had the sandwich, and it was exactly what I was craving. The server also let me know about the mahi tacos, which are apparently pretty popular. I had some Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma County to pair with it. My husband had a burger and beer (which you should try while visiting a brewery). I don't drink beer, and I don't eat burgers. Some breweries do not appeal to me much, but I was impressed with all their options. I could see anyone finding food and beverage to their liking at Glenwood Canyon.

Oh wow, I visited this place a couple weeks ago and wasn't expecting much in a tourist town. That was a mistake, this place was great! The only reason I've waited to post a review is my husband has the receipt and I can't remember my waiter's name. I walked in to get a table while my husband parked the car (yes after a morning of steep hiking at Hanging Lake I couldn't manage to walk 200 feet, he got a solid laugh at this). There was a slightly odd server outside on the patio who made a point of following me in to the hostess desk and parroting everything I said from about a foot behind me. Very weird dude, so I was grateful when the hostess introduced me to my waiter, a completely different person. He was super friendly, made great recommendations, reinforced our choices and was generally awesome. I was extremely hungry and the nachos were amazing. This place had great sour cream and good beer, I could have eaten every meal here. I'd highly recommend it to anyone! also try the sweet potato tots, sooo good!

First of all, great beer selection. Worth the trip alone. Second, this staff is 'best in class'. They are fast. They are friendly. They are efficient. If there is a mistake they do not hesitate to accept responsibility and make it right for you. In the end, they have your enjoyment top of mind. You deserve that much and they deserve your business. Oh. The food. Awesome. Mahi tacos are a must. Mac and cheese promises to delight. What are you waiting for?

Food is ok, recommend burgers and fries. Sweet potato tots were not good, sweet, undercooked, pretty yucky. Salad dressing on chicken salad was way too sweet. Burgers were fine, nothing spectacular same for the beers. I've had worse and I've had better, thus 3 stars. Service was the same.

DISASTER !!!!! NEVER GOING BACK! Host insisted our family with young kids sit at a high top table and my daughter ended up falling off chair, due to cheap and faulty feet. I asked to be moved to a booth only to be moved to a table with same cheap shorter chairs, only to have the chair slide out from under my daughter AGAIN and split open her chin. After all of this nobody including the manager ever came by to check on the situation. The service was slow and servers were very snotty. Food was poorly prepared and sadly the beer wasn't anything special either.

Recommend this place for sure. The St. James Irish Red was a great beer for sure. Had the Tex Mex burger and the prime rib cheese steak both were great. Good location along the river. Staff was friendly during both visits. Will come back again.

Everything you expect from a brewery restaurant. They have plenty choices of microbrews and all the bub food you can think of.

This is a happenin' joint in downtown Glenwood Springs. We were told it would be a 20-25 minute wait. However, we were seated within about 10 minutes outside (a bit chilly as the sun went down, but we had jackets). The beers are decent. There are TVs in the bar. We both had the prime cheesesteak (minus cheese for me) sandwich. There were more mushrooms than meat, though, but it was still flavorful. I also had the sweet potato tots (which seem to be an obsession in Colorado). They are frozen-from-a-bag, but interesting enough. Our server was very friendly and efficient.

THE ST. JAMES IRISH RED ALE IS MY FAVORITE BEER IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY I would fly here just to drink it. A MUST HAVE for all visits. I'm salivating just thinking of it. The food is great too, I have plans to fly out this summer and I will DEFINITELY be stopping here!

Great atmosphere, good food (menu could use a few more options, though), good beer, plenty of sports, lots of space and tables. Fun for the kids, too. Nice place to stop on vacation. Right near the riverfront and in a great location. A good find.

Great Manager Donna and a very awesome Server Ben. The food is always good the few times I've been here and always try to stop here when passing through. Great beer especially the raspberry wheat.

My friend and I came for lunch, and while we were eating we were notified that my friend's car had been hit in the parking lot. It wasn't anything major but the staff was so nice and attentive to our problem. They ended up comping our entire meal (which they really didn't need to do) and couldn't have been nicer. The food was also delicious, and I enjoyed their craft beer. I will definitely be coming back! Amazing staff!!

I feel like customer service personal in Glenwood are rude to people they think ate not from here. This place is no exception. The waiter was rude when we were trying to joke around. We ordered a bunch of random drinks and I asked "can you remember everything" as a joke obviously. Steven responded "yes but thank you for asking" very sarcastically. Good think the girl at the bar with the neon green headband was so nice! She asked us what we were up to and gave suggestions of things to do. The food was really good though I got beer cheese soup in a bread bowl that was excellent! So I'm giving a better review because the food was good. Steven take a joke! Can my tip go to the girl at the bar?

I make a trip to GS from Austin 2-3 times a year and have come here every single time. They rotated out the best beef stroganoff in the world about in 2013, but I still ask, just in case. Now my "go to" is the chicken enchiladas, which are made with great chicken breast and a not-greasy sauce + black bean salsa. On the unhealthy side, their house-made chips are super crispy & come with a spicy chipotle sauce, the sweat potato tots come with a wicked cinnamon butter. (Doesn't sound great, but it is!). The onion rings are crunchy & smooth... The only thing I have ever gotten that I didn't like was the thick beer-cheese soup... Oh, Margaritas & beer are great.... It is a brewery!

The food was good bar food. I liked the raspberry beer and don't usually get fruity beers. Our kids loved that their meals came served on frisbees. A great stop after a day at the hot springs.

I've been here twice with my family. Both times, we've ended up seated in the back room which lacks ambiance. It's tipi calmly loud back there as they have several giant tables set up for large groups. Maybe if we'd waited for the patio seating the overall experience would have been better. Now to the food: Food was good to very good. The hubby enjoyed his fish and chips very much. He described them as "beer-battered with nice big chunks of fish". I had the Canyon burger with a buffaloes patty. This was my favorite part of my meal. Very yummy. We also did A LOT today, so a burger hit the spot. They allowed me sub sautéed veggies with my meal, rather than the usual sides. They were very good, not fantastic. One of my daughters ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich. Huge - she couldn't finish, but then again, she's just a tween. She liked what she ate. My husband got a flight of their beers..... Liked the No Name Nut Brown and Vapor Cave IPA best. Watch the amount of ice they put in your homemade root beer! My daughters first round was mostly ice. Get your money's worth. Service was ok. Friendly, but several times we had to wait quite a while for her to get things we'd asked for.

Great food, good beers and good staff make a winning combination. Looking for a good lunch as we pulled into town, we stopped here. Found parking in their free lot to the side of the building. Surprised to see how many beer awards they have won. Had never heard of then. Beers were tasty. Patio is nice, as we'll as when they open up the bar. Great burgers and a good kids meal. Went there twice in as 3 day stay. Thursdays were burger and beers for $10. Can't beat that! Friendly staff. Provided great info.

Good prices, big portions, and delicious food!!! We are very impressed and will probably be back during this vacation. Parents say- "beer was good!" Lots of vegetarian options as well. The cheddar beer soup is soooo good!

Taco Tuesday today - fried cod with mango slaw and black bean corn avocado on the side. Sooooo good! Ravioli, fish & chips, and the Mac & cheese were all delicious as well.

Popped in late after the hot springs pool so there weren't a lot of options. So decided on root beer floats. BEST root beer floats ever! They make their own root beer and it was amazing.

The restaurant was nice and the service was average. The beers were quite a disappoint from what we had heard. We decided to eat elsewhere which was probably a good choice because it was over an hour wait for our party of two.

I had the raspberry wheat & it was yummy . The bartender gives samples of the various drafts. Very clean bar. Good service. I also had the chopped Mediterranean salad and devoured it.

Very solid brews, and the food was alright. We got the flights (pick 4), the spinach dip, chic enchilada, and choc truffle cake. The spin dip was ok, wouldn't get again, enchiladas pretty solid, and truffle amazing. The best beer we tried was the Irish which was surprising to me. The pale ale was good and the dubbel was very tasty as well. Great place to try out, cool location, awesome service!

  • John K.

I didn't eat here but sampled a few beers.I was not impressed. They struck me as having a remarkably low flavor profile. They were timid which seems very un Colorado.More reminiscent of what you will encounter in New York and New Jersey where brewers are invariably afraid that the customers just aren't ready for it! The place was crowded and noisy when I went there- around 6:30.There were a lot of families with kids.

    (2)
  • Darlene T.

Food was adequate at best. Nothing to rave about. Portions were modest-unless you ordered a burger. Kids meals were the smallest portions my kids (all 6 growing up) have ever had. I should have ordered them a second meal as soon as they were served. My Bad! The boys were still hungry when we left even though we all pitched in what was on our plates. Order the salmon rare if you don't want it cooked well. Rice was mushy. Nice atmosphere, sweet server. good local brew. As stated previously, food is "adequate". If good food is important to you, I'd go elsewhere.

  • Byron C.

Good beer and a nice ambiance inside and in the surrounding neighborhood. The food was decent, nothing to write home about. We ordered nachos to start which were laden with toppings, a very good thing, however the cesar salad was not great, with soggy lettuce and a sub-par dressing. All in all if I were local, I would give it another chance. On the plus side the bar was busy and had plenty of tables so a good place to hang out and have some beers.

    (3)
  • Barry G.

Good place to grab some local microbrews in a casual atmosphere. The menu is pretty typical for sports bars. The ribs were a little tough, and the salmon was bland - but the staff was friendly and attentive. It's an easy stop from I-70, or a quick walk if you're staying anywhere near the hot springs pool. Worth a try!

  • Coleen W.

The food and beer were stellar! Our server, Jamie, was knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. The special panini I had with rotisserie chicken, chipotle mayo, pepper jack and ancho peppers was phenomenal! My husband enjoyed the house chili, but wishes he would have gotten my panini after stealing a bite. The black bean salad was a wonderful addition as well. Got a growler of the Vapor Cave IPA to-go to top off the experience!

    (5)
  • Rich B.

The beer was excellent and the food was delicious. We had a burger and their special, which was a 10 oz NY Strip with a red wine demi-glaze with mushrooms. That sauce made the steak! The sautéed snap peas that came with it were excellent as well, and the cheddar mashed potatoes rounded out the meal. For a brewpub I was very impressed. The atmosphere was loud and hectic, which you kind of have to expect, but the service was really good despite the craziness. I would definitely eat here again.

We were a party of 6 and had to wait about 30 min for a table, but ordered some drinks and chicken wings from the bar and enjoyed them in the attached hotel lobby. The burgers were seasoned perfectly and the homemade buns were delicious.

I love their Strawberry Daze beer but you can only get it the weekend of Strawberry Days. Not sure why they don't brew it all year round... I'm a local and have been going to this place for 2 years. They recently changed the menu and I'm not a fan. They have Burger and a Beer on Thursday's for $10 (used to be $9). The chef can't cook a med-rare burger to save his/her life. I agree with the other reviews about how RUDE the bartender is...she is unreal. If I'm going to pay over $20, I would like to have a server who wants me there. They need to hire nicer people...good thing they have growlers so I don't have to experience the bad service. If it changes, I will delete this review but something's got to change.

Good Food, Good Brew, Good Times. Interior - bright, clean, comfortable. Prices - good. Food - good. Parking - street parking, but that's just the way it is in Glenwood Springs. Be prepared to walk a few blocks. Service - good. That's about all. Good, easy, convenient.

I was excited to try some new beers during my visit in Glenwood Springs. Unfortunately, most of the beers here just weren't very memorable. I got the sampler of eight beers and I have to say pretty much all of them were forgettable and one, the Grizzley Creek Raspberry Wheat was pretty bad, tasting of cold cough syrup diluted with water. The only one that I would get again was the St. James Irish Red beer, which was nice and malty..definitely a good beer though not a great one by any means. Didn't have the food here so I can't judge that. The service was good and they even let us stay a bit late as they were closing. Definitely a cool place to check out if you're in town, but there are definitely other breweries in Colorado that have a better product.

3.5 stars. Good beers, pub food. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad either. A good place après ski or to watch a game in GS. Casually and solidly good.

Being the craft brew fanatic that I am, this place has been on my list of breweries to visit for about a year now. On a recent trip to Glenwood Springs, I happily got my chance and was not disappointed. Our group sat at the bar and ordered a sampler. The bartender also threw in an extra sample of their cider at no extra charge. All of the beers were quite good but the standout brews were the Grizzly Creek Raspberry Wheat and the Hanging Lake Honey Ale. I ended up getting a full pint of the refreshing Raspberry Wheat and we took a growler of the Honey Ale back to our hotel. The food was pretty standard for pub fare, if not a little better. I got a buffalo burger with mozzarella and mushrooms and mashed potatoes. Everything hit the spot and it was big enough that I was able to take some back to the hotel for a snack later. The service was alright. It seemed to me like the bartenders were less than excited to have a group that wanted to order food at the bar but they made it through nevertheless. Our bartender perked up a bit when we started chatting about downtown Denver, where he had lived for a bit. Overall we had a pretty good experience here and I will definitely go back when I visit Glenwood again.

A group of 4 of us came in after a longish drive from Denver. We were able to catch a seat at the bar, together, while the wait to be seated was 30 minutes. We ordered a beer platter and they threw in a cup of hard cider too. The beer here is VERY good. The 4 of were sharing the sampler and we were all feeling it by about 3/4 of the way through. The food was the main issue. It was ok and they messed up my friends order. the enchiladas were very um, Caucasian style. The service was ok, but not the best we've ever had either. One of the girls behind the bar kept giving us the stink-eye... maybe that's just how she looks. idk.

Onion rings and beer were great. Burgers solid. Low marks cause I sat down in front of a Stanley Cup playoff game for a reason. They changed the channel to the same basketball game that was on the other 2 TVs. When I politely asked it to be changed back nothing happened. When I asked about that at the end of the meal I got a bs excuse. I won't be back.

We popped in for lunch around 1pm on a Monday. We were greeted and seated promptly. Absolutely no waiting. I was happy to sit next to a window. ~ Jesse was our server and he was very pleasant and professional. We were hungry for burgers after an eventful weekend. I ordered the Tex Mex Burger and was not disappointed, in the least. It was perfect. And the perfect, killer IPA BBQ Sauce on the side was great... Unfortunately, the Sweet Potato Tots were not what I suspected. I wanted crunchy and they were soft and mushy. I would hope next time they come out fresh and crunchy, like tots should be. We munched on them anyway, but didn't finish them because of that reason.

This has become our go to! We head down here for all our casual birthdays, anniversaries, and just when we don't want to cook. First, we love craft beer, and they have that covered. Second. The pretzels and honey mustard. I can make a meal off just those. Third. The menu in general meets whatever I am craving. Salads, burgers, the special flat bread pizza of the day. Mmmm. My husband builds his own burger and every time, the server is like oh, that sounds really good! Also, just for kicks, the caramel apple martini won't let you down for a "fancy" drink.

  • Dave B.

Only OK. The food is good, the service is fine, the beer is okay. Not the greatest, but not the worst. Points deducted for their inability to handle a crowded evening. A 40 minute wait, yet lots of unoccupied tables in both the bar and the restaurant. Seemed like they were in over their head.

Nice place, must have missed the crowd. Had the half order nachos which were good. Service was very friendly. Beer was great. Had a couple award winners and they met expectations. I would go back for the beer.

Stopped in Saturday on a recommendation by a sales woman I was working with. Had the Colorado Club with the house fries! Excellent! Waitress was great and the atmosphere was casual. Doors to the outside patio were open and it was a great pub feeling! Can't say I tried any of the ales but they looked tasty! Try this place on a nice day and sit outside!

We're staying at the Hotel Denver in the same building, so we thought we would try the brewery, especially after we saw the description of their mac n cheese. Did not disappoint. Nice brew and panini, too. Our server Erin was very nice and attentive, and made some great suggestions.

Glenwood Canyon Brewpub constantly knocks me out with the selection of amazing craft beers they brew in house. The Hanging Lake Honey Ale is incredible as is the Vapor Cave IPA. The food is awesome as well. I really like the burgers and the Canyon Salad. You won't be sorry you came here! Highly recommended!

Sorry guys. Your beer is great. BEER IS GREAT!!! But...Your service needs some work. We walked in and sat in the bar area. The server took a little longer then usual to get things started. Having never been there, I ordered the taster platter. It was NYE and I wanted to try some new brews. The beer was good and I was actually surprised by a few of them. However, our server was not up to par. She might have been busy and got stuck with us as her only table. But I saw he come out of the back, look around then go back to the back. (This was when we were waiting to order for a while) She came back and said "Sorry, I was stuck in the back room." Something was just off. When we got our order in, things seemed to be at a normal speed. Knowing we were having a pretty heavy dinner, I ordered a salad and chicken quesadilla. Unfortunately the sour cream came with one of our servers red hairs. That alone just made eating that food hard. I didn't want to complain. We finished up the taster platter and waited for our check. It took a while...ago on the service. I'd go back for a beer sitting at the bar. But to enjoy a meal, I think I'd pass.

I was overall pretty impressed with our quick lunch stop here. We ordered the nachos with prime rib and chicken, and they were pretty amazing, and wayyyy too generous - the 5 of us couldn't finish them. All of the main courses hit the spot and looked great. My turkey reuben was pretty spot-on. Their beers were great - I highly recommend the Scotch ale - so creamy and delicious I wanted to order 4 more.

Thursday beer and burger day for $9.00 is a good deal.... and their Hanging Lake Honey Ale (a wheat beer) is very good. Nice menu, friendly service, good beer - with an entrance door to the hotel I was staying at. If you are staying there (Hotel Denver) you get a discount here as well Its a fun local pub -

My family and I visited Glenwood Springs for a few days this summer and stopped in the Glenwood Canyon Brewpub for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. We'd heard that they offered "traditional pub food", but no one told us how good it was. I enjoyed the Bleu Bella Burger with bleu cheese crumbles and sauteed portobella mushrooms - yum! My daughter raved about the pulled pork BBQ sandwich and couldn't get enough of the homemade bbq sauce. My husband loved the Prime Rib Colorado Cheesesteak. The service was good, the atmosphere was clean, updated and nice, and we liked it so much we went back again. On our second trip, my husband had a BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger, I had a BBQ Bacon Grilled Chicken sandwich and my daughter had a regular Canyon burger. We all tried the fries and home made kettle chips, and all finished our plates each day. My only regret is that we were there for lunch both days and didn't sample the beer!!

great local brewpub serving all of their own beer (many national award winners) Prime rib is some of the best I have ever had-smoked in the back and seasoned perfectly-if you like prime rib...trust me, this is some of the best Great service, excellent food, fast service-definitely one of the best known and most popular restaurant in Glenwood (and for good reason)

Stopped in when in town with my family. We all loved our beers (tried the red, honey ale, and american IPA) and the food was delicious! We had incredible attentive service, our food was quick and the waitress was incredibly helpful. The pretzel appetizer is a must! The best pretzel I have ever had with a delicious mustard sauce! Would definitely recommend stopping here if you are looking for good beer and food.

  • Doug Y.

The flight of beers I had I would rate as 4 stars. The Club sandwich I had with my flight might be a little lower but it was pretty alright. The benefit of going to a brewpub with a non-beer drinking friend is that you get to finish his flight for him. The downside of that is that you also get two tasters of the brews you didn't like too! I'll be in here my next visit to Glenwood as long as they keep making good beers.

This was the perfect find while wandering downtown Glenwood on a hot Saturday afternoon. Good beer? Check. Great food? Check. Service was decent, the beer was excellent and the food was yum. We started off with the warm pretzels, then I had chicken fried steak. There was barely room for desert but we didn't want to leave so ended up getting a piece of cheesecake.

Updated review. While I'm still bummed they took off their three pepper chicken sandwich they have added some new menu items that are great. When the menu originally changed it was a disappointment but they seem to have even more recently changed it up again and looked much better. Perhaps with the remodeling and new outdoor seating they made the updates. I had the seared tuna sandwich with pineapple salsa. Wonderful! Prepared medium rare. The ahi tuna salad sounded wonderful and will be what I try next. Their strawberry beer for 2014 was the best I've ever had from them. And as usual their fish and chips are great. So glad they worked out their kinks.

I've been to Glenwood Springs 5 times and I've been to Glenwood Canyon Brewery 5 times, obviously I like the way it looks, I guarantee it!!! I've tried the sampler of beers and all were delicious and I was hooked. My last stop tried the fish sandwich and hot diggity dang it was good! Definitly go here if you go up to hanging lake hike, you will not be disappointed with the cold one waiting for you at the bottom.

Skip it. Pretty much your basic..I've been drinking for 5 hours and need food in my stomach so I don't throw up kinda place....I hope thats not too harsh : / The food was just really bad. I bet this place is great for happy hour or just a nice spot to sit and drink with your buddies or family. One thing that bugged me the most was the service staff having not-so-appropriate conversations while they were standing next your table, it just looks bad, I really don't want to hear about your drunken escapades while I'm eating. As a part of the industry that is like the number one NO NO...so I must address it.

Large restaurant in the heart of Glenwood Springs. The beer selection is good and the food is decent. I would recommend the beer cheese soup. It's overall good brewery grub and the portions are decent.

I debated on whether to actually submit this review or not, but the more I think about my experience, I feel compelled to warn other potential patrons of the service at Glenwood Canyon. I cannot comment on the food as we stopped in simply for drinks. The bartender, Stephanie, was the most rude, impolite and venomous person in the service industry I've ever encountered. Her poor attitude and insulting comments towards me and my group were not only off-putting but completely unnecessary. I am sure this place has some redeeming qualities, but because of Stephanie, I would not return to discover what they are. If they are willing to keep someone like that employed, I don't want to find out what else they have to offer.

Atmosphere was awesome. If you just want to try a bunch of beers, definitely go here. If you want to eat dinner, it's pretty overpriced and wasn't amazing. I was impressed they had a vegan option on the menu.

We pulled into Glenwood Springs pretty late and were ready for dinner before checking into the hotel. This place was great. Like other reviews mention - it's not the best food ever and none of the beers we tried were remarkable, but overall is was a good experience. Service and atmosphere were great. And we had some elk and buffalo which was a treat. Overall, I would definitely recommend!

I LOVE this place!! I come here every time I go to Glenwood. The ambiance is great, the beers are yummy, and the water is constantly refilled (a must if you're dehydrated from the hot springs). I'm a vegetarian so at most places my choices are somewhat limited, but they have a tempeh ruben here that is to DIE for!! Ill be coming back here for years!!

Hi there. We were in your pub twice this past weekend. Once on the way to Southern Utah, once on the way back. Our server was GREAT on the way out....I'm sorry I didn't get her name. But unfortunately, we had a different experience on our second visit. Kelsey was our server. She came up to our table promptly, and we ordered beers and a kid pizza for our son. We were not ready to order our meals yet. When she came back, my husband ordered off the menu and I asked about your daily special, a grilled bacon and cheese sandwich that came with either purple potato steak fries or summer potato salad. My husband said, "Oh, what ARE the specials, I didn't see the board." Kelsey just looked over at the board. I had read the board so I described the specials to him, including the soup. Then I asked Kelsey what the potato salad was like and she responded, "Oh, I don't know. I haven't seen it. I just got here. I don't normally work days." Ok. Hmmm. Ok. No offer from her to haul her butt to the kitchen and ask the cook......so, I guess I'll have FRIES, since I know what to expect from those! Then, she disappeared. For a while. I have waited table and tended bar for much of my life, so I'm pretty understanding, until I'm not. Our little family had just come off a great desert trip, a wonderful swim at the springs, and we were feeling really good. We talked, sipped our beers. Then emptied our beers. I started to wonder where the heck our food was. We started looking around. Nothing. No Kelsey. We saw two guys at the bar get their food; they had come in and ordered quite a bit later than we did. I know my food is taking too long when I start to miss it....especially when I have a good beer in front of me! Finally, Kelsey shows up, goes back to the kitchen, delivers our food. It had obviously been sitting under a hot lamp or something. My bread was dried out and the fries looked as though they had been refried to heat them up. All in all, it was a bummer. Kindof took the steam out of us. Not what we expect from your place, as we visit every time we drive through there. I just thought you should know about it. Kelsey seems as though she's just there to hobnob with young locals, which is fine, but your tourist season is coming up, and if she wants to make money she needs to refine her service a bit. I was going to Yelp about it but I figured, most of the time we really love your place and the food has always been good, service friendly and PROMPT, and great beer. So, there it is. (reviewer's note:) There is no email contact information on this restaurants' website, so....Yelp it is!!

Great beer, salad, steak sandwich, and the kids loved their chicken strips and smiley fries. Best sweet potato nuggets too! Friendly and fast service, nice atmosphere. No complaints!

Beer was ok. Food was pretentious and over spiced, hiding the flavor of the main ingredient.

Very cool place! After a day in Glenwood Springs this is a welcoming place to unwind and enjoy some food and drinks. I ordered the flight and tried a few different beers. The porter and Rye IPA were my favorite. I also ordered the Wild Mac N Cheese. The elk and vegetables definitely made it taste wild! It was very good. I highly recommend. The food came out nice and hot and was prepared with obvious care. The portions were quite large as well. If I am ever in the area again, I will return.

We are staying and the Hotel Denver and the Brew Pub next door.. A long day driving and hiking we decided to just stay close.. Great atmosphere and local brews.. I had the prime rib with baked potato and green beans.. Great food!!

Frozen Frozen and....Frozen!! The only reason I didn't give 1 star is for the beer. Let me just start by saying we order a soft pretzel appetizer and I joked to my husband that it was so totally frozen, I think all they did was add salt. It's just like the one's you can get at the grocery store!! Then I saw a review that also mentioned the frozen grocery store soft pretzel! After this, I did not have high hopes for anything else we ordered. Thank heavens I didn't have high hopes because I would have been very disappointed, that's for sure! The entrees we ordered, were again, frozen and microwaved. My husband had meatloaf and steamed veggies. I had a ravioli dish. This was one of the saddest meals I think we've ever eaten out. We skipped dessert! The beer was alright though. I would most likely go here to drink, but that's it!!

The beer here is really really lackluster, as the other reviews stated, they are pretty flavorless and boring . The service really wasn't very good either. I wouldn't come back.

  • Sheph D.

The service and food were good. I didn't care for their beer. That being stated, your options are limited in Glenwood Springs so I will return to this brewery. After my second trip I sampled alot of their beer and I was impressed by the special beers they produce.

We ate here one evening and it was very enjoyable. We have a one year old son and they were very kid friendly. Food was good and beer even better. The new chef has changed the menu and the food is local and fresh. Very good for a brewery. We were staying in the Hotel Denver above so could take our beers to our room, fantastic.

  • Alden C.

Not a bad stop at all. I got the honey ale which went down fairly smooth. What I enjoyed even more was the cup of chili soup that I ordered! Very delicious! Fast and friendly service got me in and out so Steven did not have to wait in the car very long with the dog and so we could continue our trek along the Western Slope.

This place is best described as a "Diner Brewery". Let me first say that nothing on the menu was cooked poorly, and the wait staff was responsive. But on a whole there was nothing special that I couldn't get at a diner. The beer was ok, but not worth a special visit. The menu could be described as eclectic, as there didn't seem to be any cohesive theme. Choices ranged from enchiladas to beef stroganoff served on flat noodle linguini (never seen this before....). Oversized portions, which may be a bonus if you go with a teenager. Price points for items seemed to be wildly divergent ranging from 13 to 27 dollars per plate. Specials were noted on a chalk board as you come in, but of course no prices to aid the visitor in a decision. BTW (important) the hostess's will try to seat a multi-person party at two long "lunch stand style" counters in the bar area whereby you and your companions will be on display for the viewing pleasure of the wait staff while you eat.

I've been here quite a few times. I usually like to take visitors here, it's not super special but has always been consistent. Good beer, good food, good atmosphere.

  • Zach J.

Came here for the beer, but were more impressed by the food. Ordered prime rib and the half chicken, both were great and everything cooked perfectly. I tried sampler with red ale, IPA, English ale and stout. The only one that impressed me was the stout, but that was very good. Our waiter was good - friendly and attentive.

  • Heath P.

Delish, not bar food at all. I had the special, smoked chix enchiladas. If the sauce wasn't made to order, they've got a phenomenal supplier. Come here every time I pass this way. Service is off the chart, ask for "tall" Jennifer and tell her Heath said hi!

  • Parvati C.

Just ok. I had the American IPA and was not impressed. Not a lot of hop character.

  • John L.

I really want to support local beer. I have tried their beers multiple times and every time they are flat and watered down. If you enjoy beers like Budweiser this might be your place. If you are looking for something unique this is not your place.

Loved it! We went with our 11/2 year old and felt very welcome. I had the No Name Brown and the Old-Scottish and both were very good. My husband, the IPA snob also raved about the beers. For food, I had the Colorado Bass special on risotto. The risotto was a little under-cooked, but I can easily over look that since the atmosphere was perfect and the staff very friendly. The clientele was great as well. No one was bothered that our toddler was there when we bellied up to get a pre-dinner beer while we waited for our table, which didn't take long at all, didn't even get our beers paid for before we were sat. Very friendly, kid-friendly, beer-snobbery friendly, maybe not extreme foodie friendly, but was better than typical pub food.

This place seems the definition of the 3 star "a-ok." Everything is relatively acceptable, nothing disappoints you greatly. Unfortunately, nothing blows your doors off either. Generally at a brewery, if you're legit, you batter your fish with your own beer for fish and chips. I asked, they don't. That had me puzzled. After that, I started analyzing the dishes on the menu. I fear that most of the stuff had elements that are bought frozen and merely thawed and cooked. That's fine, if you're OK with just being fine. Like I said, this place was middle of the road. Portions were large, most people in my party had food to take home. Service was very helpful, always on the ball. We had a party of 7 and he was right there when we needed him for something. Their beer sampler was huge. I think it equates to 4 pints. Great variety, but nothing stands out at excellent. I think they're known for their nut brown ale but it didn't dazzle me. I'm always looking for a new sweet brewery to eat at, no matter the location. I love beer and I love good food. GCB seems to get after it a little, but they left me wanting more.

The best beer, awesome food, good service, great atmosphere. They have such a good variety that it can't be beat. The prices are good too. We went here the first night of our trip, on our second night we walked all over town checking out the menus of other places, the eventually came back here because it could not be beat.

Food is good, but the in house brewed beers were terrible. the service was good, and the place had a nice atmosphere. poobably wouldnt go out of my way to come back, but my arm could be twisted under the right circumstances.

Any brew pub that blames the computer for me missing happy hour by 2 minutes doesn't deserve the title of brew pub in my book. The Soup Nazi got away with strict adherence to protocol because his soup was to die for- not much at the brew pub deserves this acclaim. Good place for a hamburger and a beer. Good atmosphere. Don't order the chicken wings, they look like they came off of pigeons they are so small.

Have yourself a Naughty Root Beer. We drove here after a Hanging Lake hike with the kids and had a nice meal in a decent venue. The husband enjoyed his pale ale with great relish (as in he relished it, not an actual garnish to the ale), and I must say the Naughty Root Beer sat very well with me. Our kids enjoyed their tot-safe chocolate milks. My BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich was excellent, albeit a trifle messy. My husband wolfed down his Buffalo Burger. The kids enjoyed a four-cheese mini pizza and a grilled cheese sandwich, respectively. What really got them were the kiddie fries in the shape of smiley faces! Decent service, the ambience wasn't too loud or dark, and we were seated right beneath a TV screen to watch football highlights on a Sunday. All was right with the world. Just another place to like in Glenwood Springs!

I debated going with a 3* or 4*. The service was fantastic. It was very busy and yet no one showed their frustration...and any of us who've worked in service know how frustrating it can be to get super busy on a night when you don't expect it. The food was just OK. I had a green chili burger which might as well of not had any green chili on it. While there was plenty, it lacked any flavor or heat. The kids had chicken strips and fries. Fries were fine but the chicken was on the greasy side. Another kid had fish and chips - also good on the flavor side but a little too greasy. Grandma had chili in a bread bowl and said it was fine. We had cheesecake for dessert and it was WAY overpriced @ $7.95 (iirc) for a very small slice. The drinks were top notch. I had their house brewed raspberry wheat which was very, very good. Nice body with just a hint of sweet from the fruit. The root beer was superb! We bought a growler to bring home and look forward to cracking it open with friends this weekend. Overall - I'd go back but probably not before trying a few other places first.

We had dinner l celebrate Mother's Day, it took over an hour to get our food. A grilled cheese for my son, turkey club for me and the pork special for my husband. The pork was dry, didn't come prepared the way our sever described to us and my husband was very unsatisfied. My club had 2 slices of deli style turkey on it and ordered it hot it was prepared hot cause the cheese was melted but it was cold when it was served and the fries I was served were cold as well. Our server was very accommodating but when you go somewhere and order simple food because you have a toddler and you still wait an hour it's frustrating enough but when the food is not worth the wait that is disappointing. We will not return and we eat at this establishment when we visit Glenwood which is often we live 40 mins away

Boo second experience here was AWFUL. I wanted the prime rib which was on the menu, but they only have it on Saturdays. So I ordered a burger, but it was terrible. The bun was stale and the meat was a hockey puck, one of those pre-shaped frozen burgers. No wonder they didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked. It made me sad. My first experience (prime rib) was good. I guess only go on Saturdays.

Food was good, not fantastic. The root beer was really good. The atmosphere was odd I would say. We kept getting stared at. Even when I walked to the restroom, people were staring. I found this odd and uncomfortable. I would say hello to someone and they would just glare. I am not an odd looking person, I would say average. I dress average, look average, speak average. What they found odd about me, I don't know. Another friend felt the same way.

Another craft brew pub that is just fine. The food is fine as is the beer. We went several times. Can't say that I found any of their beers super memorable.

  • Brandon W.

The beer was good. I'll say that first since it's a brewery and it seems they make their own beer in-house. Kudos. I also liked the choice of a 6 oz sampler instead of having to buy a full pint. As for the food, it seemed overpriced to me for the amount. I ordered a club and my wife ordered some soup with a pretzel. Each were almost $10. She got a small cup of soup and a small pretzel. Muy mal. My sandwich was good along with the soup, but the size was small. If you're charging $6 for soup, can't you go with a bowl instead of a cup? And if you're charging several bucks for a warm pretzel, can you get a bigger one instead of the smallest ones sold at Costco? *sigh* We went back the next night and the dessert was good, but $10 for a small slice of cake and one scoop of ice cream. The trend continues...

Came looking for some great craft brews. If you're looking for the same, it isn't here. Every beer in the flight was weak and lacked sustenance. Food was mediocre. Most flavor was in the Spanish rice. Not worth the 35 minute wait. Wish we would have tried another restaurant that had better bottled craft beer than trying to get it from the source.

Don't miss it! My husband and I visited four out of the seven nights we were in G.S. The beer tasting flights are the way to go--I didn't try any brews I didn't like! The fish and chips (skip the fries and go for the homemade potato chips), the enchiladas, and the tacos were all great. We found out that Thursday nights are $10 burger and beer nights--this is a great deal. (The prices are in line with the rest of this tourist-oriented town, but a little on the high side for pub food.) The burgers were cooked to well unless you request otherwise, so if you don't like them this done, be sure to request otherwise. The servers were busy but very friendly. Wish we could teleport this place back to Austin!

This place was pretty good. the food was yummy....get the pretzels for an appetizer, they come out warm and with honey mustard dipping sauce. My husband had one of the beers, I can't remember which one right now, but he said by itself it was pretty bland, but with his lunch it was delicious. Reasonably priced, great menu, and great staff. Would come back!

Disclaimer - I'm a brewer and have known these brewers here for a long time. But, I'm also pretty fussy. In summary, they have a great place, good food, and make VERY quaffable award-winning beer. * Beer - 5 stars (Vapor Cave IPA!) * Service - 5+ stars (VERY helpful & nice even when very busy) * Food - 4 stars (Bowtie pasta with chicken was great. Salmon chowder a bit salty, but good, Hershey chocolate cake - very good) Best of all... If you stay at the Hotel Denver, you room is just a convenient walk upstairs. You can even take your beer and relax in the lobby chairs... or even bring your beer up to your room! I would definitely recommend Glenwood Canyon Brewing.

I probably should have walked out when I saw the bartender with his finger stuffed way up his nose. But I was hungry and thirsty. I remained that way for 20 minutes waiting for my server to finish her conversation with the nose picking barman. She looked pretty stoned and asked me what I wanted. I said," a menu?" She rolled her eyes and went back to her conversation with the bartender. I guess she complained about me. Then I noticed the group of slack-jawed inbred regulars at the bar whispering and glancing my way. Then another server came by a dropped a menu on my table and walked away. Now it had been 40 minutes and not even a simple glass of water. So I got up and grabbed a comment card. I filled it out and gave to to the manager. Then she proceeded to kick me out of the bar. This was the first time I've been kicked out of a bar in my life! It was actually pretty funny. I asked if I could get a pic with since took my "bar virginity." Then she told me to F@ck-off. It was awesome but don't go here if you want food or beer.

We stopped here for lunch and split a burger and a beer sampler (8 tasters for $12). The beer was OK - we liked the double IPA, the wheat, and the English Ale well enough. The burger, on the other hand, was a total let down. It was overdone and full of gristle. The chicken tortilla soup we got on the side was bland with a few unappetizing cubes of chicken mixed in. We probably should have gone for the fries instead. The lousy burger set us back $12, which is seriously overpriced for what we got. I'd say this was on the low end of pub food.

Only go here for the beer, which is great. The food is below average. I ordered the chef's hand-made pizza special of the day. When it arrived I swear it was a Freschetta frozen pizza. I'll eat my shorts if this is actually handmade. I'm still on the hunt for good food in Glenwood Springs, after 6 restaurants nothing good so far.

Good menu. Good beer. Good selections. Order a steak, had to send it back for being way over cooked... but when it came back, it was amazing. The seasoning was perfect and whatever cowboy butter is, it was fabulous. Staff was okay, some were friendly, some were more into the other staff than the customers.

Great bar for a small'ish town and really friendly wait staff and crowd; which is always a plus. Glenwood Springs' hot spot for sure. The fries were perfectly seasoned and came with ranch... without even having to request it- kudos for that alone! One of my favorite things about Brew Co's is their home brewed root beer- there really is nothing better. Their root beer is fantastic and the friend I was with got an "infused" beer- still not sure what this means, but it was fantastic. 5 stars for service, superb root beer and serving ranch with fries- without having to request it. Our bartender's name was John- ask for him if you go, he was great.

A bit of a mixed review, but here goes! Our server Amy, was great...our beer (Porter) was also very good...our lunches however were poor at best, especially considering the cost! I never expect much from pub food, but this was worse than most. In a nutshell....GOOD beer, BAD food.

After a 5 hour drive I required a beer, and this seemed like a great place to do it. The ambiance is as expected, and the beer is very good. Our server was excellent. However the food left a bit to be desired. So...go for the beer, and have some food while you are at it.

We ate here while we were in Glenwood Springs for a two-night stay. Beer snobs shouldn't feel the need to make a special point to visit here, but it's a perfectly fine brewpub for a good dinner. The service was good (even when things got busy) and the ambiance was cheerful. It wasn't too loud, even when the dining room got full. We liked the food. The soft pretzels are a great idea for an appetizer, and quite yummy. We kept it simple for our meals - a burger and a salad - and both were quite good. The desserts were yummy as well. I enjoyed their funky cocktails (including one made with their in-house root beer). My husband wasn't super excited about their beers, though. They were okay, but nothing to write home about.

Pro---got a growler of pilsner--yummy to go beer was pretty good. Highly recommend getting the beer to go though because Con---not sure if they were brewing up a storm for strawberry days but the stench of hops and malt coming from the brewery stunk up the whole hotel and not in a mmm they must be brewing kinda way but a oh my god i need to get outside those doors or else kinda way! That being said--they seemed busy and the beer was pretty good!

I will say salads are good. Beer good. Had 5 adults tried to fit us in a Booth. We were totally cramped, so asked for tall table in bar and five seats. Waiter unkind, said "fine. But carry your own waters." OK...? The female waitress nice, even tho he went and whispered and pointed at us. ??? Average " Chili's" type food w/o the customer appreciation.

Notice: This review is all about the beer. We ate food, but we were too drunk to really taste it by the end - and really, who goes to a brew-pub for the food? If you do, get beer-approved food like fish and chips, foods that don't change the way the beer tastes. First, I must say that I'm not generally a huge fan of beer. I know, I know, but I can't hide what I am. I've toured New Belgium and O'dells and a few other small brewpubs and generally I like the lightest, least hoppy beer they make and maybe an amber. But HERE - I think I rejected only 2 of the 11 that we tried. The Honey Ale, the Amber Ale, the Nut Brown Ale, the German, the Raspberry Wheat, the Red Mountain, all delicious. I didn't like the IPA or the Stout, but I never do, so there's that. I'm not a beer-snob, but I like to try things. That being said, I feel like these beers are very user-friendly. There's no surprises, they're all pretty mild (which I like) but they don't push the envelope or anything. That's the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

    (4)
  • Matthew B.

Great beer. Service was prompt, and food (prime rib and pasta) both excellent. They even had a lemon salad creation that was excellent! Way above average for standard pub fare, and again, the beer was EXCELLENT!

Like most tourist town brewpubs, it's not very good because they'll still get lots of customers without trying. Beer pedestrian, food bland.

Service alone merits these stars. Food is pretty decent too. My husband was having a medical issue and our waiter went above and beyond to help us. He was looking up numbers for us as our phone was not working, he came outside to help me more when I was on the phone. Big Big tip for this guy. It was a busy Friday night and he was so helpful. We always stop here. Food is consistently good, brews are delightful. Options in Glenwood Springs are also light. Go there!

If you are a beer aficionado and plan on drinking enough to dull the taste of the food or are just looking for something to soak up the alcohol then this is the place for you. If not then you are better off eating someplace else as Glenwood is home to some other fine choices. The wait staff was friendly and decently attentive, although or water glasses occasionally set empty for a prolonged period of time. There is really no other way to describe the food other than sub par. The blackened chicken sandwich was lacking in taste as well as spice and in a taste test you would not be able to tell the difference between the pizza compared to something from the frozen section of your local supermarket. The view of the train station and river is pleasant and as previously mentioned the microbrews are outstanding. If you come for the beer you will definitely leave happy and can grab a to go growler if inclined to take your party on the go.

I really enjoyed both of the IPAs I sampled at Glenwood Canyon. The IPA to me is the perfect compliment to a hot summer day and some flavorful food. I tried the seasonal pale ale which was very good, but I liked the Vapor Cave IPA even better - much more hoppy and tart. I understand they also do beer infusions which I found intriguing but they had run out of them... next time. For food, I tried the pulled pork sandwich. The meat was very good and I liked that they didn't drench it in sauce. It had just the right amount. Service was a bit spotty, but they were pretty busy. All in all, this place is a decent pick if you're in the mood for a microbrew.

My hubby and I did a weekend up in Glenwood Springs....a get away from the kids kind of thing. We decided on eating at this little place after skiing at Sunrise and before hitting the Hot Springs. We were both very impressed and the beer was great. It overlooks the river, which I found really cool. we will definitely be returning when we return to Glenwood for an 'escape'.

I just moved to the area and was looking for a good place to eat and have a good beer, When I yelped this place it seemed decent enough to try out and boy was i glad we did. They make their own beer and they also have fantastic food...well at lest what I had and what my husband had was delish! I have the pulled pork sandwich i highly HIGHLY reccomend it. It doesnt have too much BBQ sauce and its not dry which is a rare combo to find. I also took the advice of one of the reviews below about trying the beer sampler cause there are so many to try. turns out there are some not liking to my palet but some are, oh and if you like one or 2 or 3 or whatever....you can buy a growler of it! and they have like a frequent buyer card, once you get a growler i think its like 12 bucks or something, you can come back at anytime (just bring back the growler) and its only 10 bucks to refill and for every 3 you refill you get one for free! I personally like the no-name nut (brown ale) and the rasberry one. OH AND ALSO! On top of making their own beer they make their own root beer,... (also and alcoholic one; havent tried it yet but i will next time im there) I reccoment that too, theres just something about a home made root beer. (and you get 1 or 2 free refills; i dont quite remmeber) All-in-all I give it my 2 thumbs up!

My travel companion and I had the taster, which is 4 ounce samplers of 8 beers. We are from the land of Rogue Brewery and Deschutes and Ninkasi, and we are hard to please. We liked all of the beers just fine. Cannot say we were wild about any of them, but none were awful and they were ALL very drinkable! We finshed every drop of each sample. The atmosphere was pleasant and our waiter was very attentive. The food was good too. I had a salmon burger and my companion had the fish and chips. We were very hungry and the food satisfied. I thought the prices were reasonable. My companion left a bright green U of O cloth backpack at the restaurant. We called twice that evening and were told no one had found it, which was disappointing and kind of hard to accept. We left our phone number. 30 hours later, I hadn't heard from the restaurant, so I tried calling one more time. The manager, Kyle?, said he had found the bag and would mail it to me in Oregon and not to worry about the cost of postage. The bag, and all the contents, showed up 3 days later! That was great customer service. So, now I am a fan.

Mediocre food, but good beer. I had the patty melt (requested medium, got well done) and the ale (I foget the name, but it was quite refreshing). I can see this as a great place to hang out with friends, drink beer, and watch a game (2 big tvs with sports). Unfortunately, these types of places are usually not so great about the food.

My Girlfriend and I spent a night at the Hotel Denver and thought we would check out the "Brew Pub" downstairs. I was very impressed, the beer was delicious!! I had the Vapor Cave IPA with a blackened chicken sandwich. The portions were just right and our waitress was awesome. After the meal we asked if we could get a bottle of wine to go and since we were staying in the Denver Hotel, NO PROBLEM!!! The waitress brought out a bottle of wine and two glasses to bring into the hotel. Since there is an entrance into the hotel from the Brew Pub, the restaurant will let you walk into the hotel without tapping the bottle. I will definitely be back here! Great food, awesome beer and a fantastic waitress... This is my kind of place.

A must when visiting Glenwood Springs. Who wouldn't like friendly service, freshly brewed beer (and delicious rootbeer), and decent food? We recently visited Glenwood Canyon Brewing Co (after receiving many recommendations to do so), and found just what we were looking for: a family-friendly atmosphere that also has decent drinks and food for adults. Located on 7th, just after the walking bridge, it's a perfect place to hit for lunch or dinner.

The food was pretty good...I had the portabella roasted red pepper sandwich which was a nice combo and had good taste although the bun fell apart on me. I was disappointed that they didn't make their own veggie burgers (frozen) but that wasn't necessarily a surprise. I can't rave about the beer though. I ordered the Vapor Caves IPA...I've had a lot of different IPAs and this one wasn't anything to write home about. If I'm back in town I might give them another shot and try a different beer.

The other high reviews drew us in to this place, but everything was a disaster. We ordered a pretzel, a spinach artichoke dip, and a Asian salad of some kind. When the Dip came out, all the chips were the bottom of the bag, and were completely stale. The pretzel was a microwaved, frozen pretzel. And the salad we got was horrible and the salad was all old and wilted. To wrap it all up, the bread rolls were hard and very stale as well. I tried four of the beers (they have 4oz tasters), three were much too fizzy, and tasted like sprite. The stout was good. Come for the beer if you must, but skip the food, at least the manager took everything off otherwise, I would have written a nasty review.

This is definately our favorite place to stop when we come up to Glenwood for the Hot Springs.... The portions sizes are big, the prices are just right and the beer is excellent.. I don't even like beer and I like it there! Service, ambiance and location are ideal.

It's your typical brewpub fare, but that's what i like about it. If your waiting for the train to come in, there is no better place to wait. I would of given another star, if they would of agreed to fill my Nalgene with delicous brown ale, instead of the conspicious growler, for my long train ride to Reno.

Wish there was a way I could rate the service, food and "other" separately. Since I can't here goes: my husband and I were visiting Colorado for 2 weeks, we spent time in Denver, Glenwood Springs, Boulder, Broomfield, Monument, Estes Park, etc. Whew........ .we decided to have dinner here one night while in Glenwood Springs. The service (Eddie) was excellent. Eddie described the beers and various things they offer from the menu. Highly rate the service because of him. However, to all the folks that think it's O.K. to bring a table full of screaming kids to a "brewery" ...... think again. I even ask Eddie at one point, "Is if kids eat free night?" ......... He responded that it's like this all the time. I could really go for an adult time at a brewery. Guess I'm the only human on the Earth that likes to eat/drink and be happy in peace - - - without listening to screaming/crying kids. The food was also fine - we shared a burger with an egg and smoked bacon, etc .... but the kitchen left out the bacon. We didn't bring this to Eddie's attention - as we wanted to just "eat and get the hell out" due to the screaming/crying kids. PARENTS - PLEASE learn to control your children in public. Other than the kid situation - I would recommend this place. Beer good and cold - service excellent ...... leave the kids at home!

The porter draft was excellent, although not quite cold enough for my taste. I think the glass it was served in was not chilled in advance. Spouse had a Raspberry Wheat, which she didn't really like compared with the same flavor at other places. Slightly sour tasting, without much raspberry flavor. The food was the special of the day ($14) and was a Greek chicken plate that was great. Large portions, (we both took some home) and spicy and delicious. Considering that it was 5PM and they were very busy, the service was very good. All in all, we will certainly return when in Glenwood again.

This brewery, located in the heart of Glenwood Springs, is a reliable place for a yummy beer, and passable food. I ordered the chicken stew which was thick, creamy, hearty, and a bit too generously salted. My companion had the Fiesta Salad which was bland, but passable

We stopped in here after a fun day of four-wheeling. Drinks and chicken wings at one of the three bars. Service and food were great. College football on the TVs. We would go back again.

Surprisingly one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've had. My husband had the Hanging Lake Honey Ale and loved it. A little loud in the bar but overall pretty darn good.

I had my absolute worst customer service experience here. The food was fine and the beer was fine, but the bar service was terrible. Our table server was perfectly fine, but the bar staff and the manager on duty were hostile and unaccommodating. I will never return and hope you won't either

Excellent food! I had the beef stew with mashed potatoes and my wife had the buffalo burger. The service was pretty good. Parking wasn't the greatest. The beer is really good! I thought that it was a little pricy for the amount of food that you get but like I said what you did get was pretty good.

Stopped by while cruising around town with some of the wife's family and my brother. This place was on the list of places I needed to go during the 24 hours we were in Glenwood, and it didn't disappoint. I only came for the beer, and that is what I had, so I can't vouch for the food. The tasting area (don't know if that is the official name) aka the place open after 10pm, was pretty small, but the staff was very friendly. We were a very large and boisterous group by this time, so they had to be good to deal with us. I started with the sampler, and fell in love with No Name Nut Brown Ale...wow...one of the best Nut Brown's I've ever had. I was impressed by most of their other selections as well. I ended with a pint of the Nut Brown right before the place closed. The wife and I will definitely be coming back to the brewery our next time through Glenwood.

Recently visited the Glenwood Canyon Brewing Co with my golf foursome this weekend for drinks but more so to use the Foosball and pool tables. The beer here is great and the Amber is not the one to miss. I would love to say the food is great, but didn't partake in any edibles on this trip. Although the place was packed for the Broncos/Browns pre-season game, it was a little odd with the number of kids in the pool room and the bar area. Just something about that toddler screeching to kill a good time. Location of the GCBC is great sitting directly across the street from the Amtrak station in Glenwood. For a Saturday night the place was a hot spot in town and my group was pleasantly surprised at what this little town had to offer.

Eh. Food was so-so. Raspberry Wheat was good. Waitress was attentive but seemed annoyed by our presence. If you're hungry and want a good meal, there are at least 3 great restaurants within 100 yards of this place. If you just want to drink and food is secondary, have at it.

Best service in glenwood . Love the soft pretzels on the menu and the home made root beer is the best I ever had 3 kids 2 adults with desert 62$ so good. May I recommend the beef stew in a bowl of mash potatoes

What the other reviewer said about Denny's is spot on... Except that I think Denny's has more pride in their food than this place. We ordered Pretzels for an appetizer- got Honest to God superpretzels for $3.50 apiece. We aren't even talking about the "nice" frozen pretzels, but the 4" tall ones that come $250 for a dozen at the supermarket. We should have canceled our orders and bailed, but alas... I ordered the Ravioli in a "Black Bean Chipotle" sauce. I got out of the bag standard frozen italian-style cheese ravioli, along with an obviously out of the can black-bean enchilada sauce. Girlfriend ordered a black bean taco salad, got out of the bag chips, cheese, some lame ranch "chipotle" dressing, and about ten black beans scattered on top. Absolutely pathetic. Beer was ok, but there are plenty of places in Colorado to get a quality brew. STAY AWAY! And to the owners- shame on you.

When I lived out this way, there was nothing more enjoyable then a good, bike ride up the Glenwood Canyon bike path and a quick hike up to Hanging Lake followed by this brewery's salmon pasta and Hanging Lake Honey Ale. This was my Sunday routine for a while, and it helped get me in pretty good shape. I've been to a large number of brewpubs, and love (nearly) them all. However, this one stands out as my favorite of all time. If there was ever a perfect establishment, this may be it. It has it all: excellent food, excellent beers (some of the best ever), great atmosphere, pool tables galore, and a very outdoorsy crowd that's more concerned about ski conditions then how they're dressed. The staff was always helpful and provided great service. If I had to name two weak points, they'd be these - the crowd can wane and be almost non-existant on the weekend nights ('cause, hey, you can't ski the powder as well if you're all tired and hung over), and the food was a bit too pricy for my (at the time) broke @ss.

.During our recent Travel by Train weekend to Glenwood Springs, we ducked into the Canyon Microbrewery after a lovely hike on the Boy Scout Trail. Great location along the Colorado River and north end of Glenwood Canyon, a short walk from the hotel district. This is the highlight of the business, location-we tried a flight of beers which were about the worse we ever tasted-even the honey blonde was very bitter with weak flavors. Now, lets talk food-Westside Girl ordered a grilled veggie salad which contained overcooked veggies, basic lettuce served with rolls which could have been made with limestone from Glenwood Canyon (remember the Mohs Scale all you geologists?) I ordered a simple med pizza with sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese, and olives. No flavor, way undercooked (they made me another one which was crispy but still lacked flavor. This place has your basic average quality bar food, yet the insides are actually beautiful, modern wood trim and flooring. Probably worth another peek someday-

Yeah no, wouldn't recommend it. You'd get the same quality food at Denny's for much less. Service was good, food medeocre. The place lacks personality.

beer and food were ok... night bartender and manager on staff were off the charts hostile. for a tourist city, and therefore tourist restaurant, they seemed to appreciate their hometown customers more than visitors. did not feel welcome at all. waiters and waitresses were fine. the pasta dish I had was good. the pale ale I had was good. I would not go back till they get the management stuff figured out.

A good place to go if you are looking for a good basic meal and better beer. We ordered the southwestern egg rolls and the pretzels for an appetizer. They were good but you could tell that they were not made at the restaurant but offsite. Our main course of burgers and sandwiches was good. The clam chowder was very good in the bread bowl and the IPA beer was very good.

My husband and I dine out an average of 3 times a week and our experience at the Brewpub is the worst one we have ever had. We waited for 30 minutes for a table. 2 parties of 2 people ahead of us. Ok, it is a Sat. night. We arrived about 7:45 pm. Once seated we ordered 4 samplers and we each ordered a cup of beer cheese soup. We waited 30 for the soup -it was luke warm, but the pretzel was good. After another 40 minute wait and seeing that tables were being served that were seated and ordered long after us, I went to the front and ask about our food. The young lady seemed annoyed that I interrupted her conversation with another employee was quite snippy when I inquired about our dinner orders. After a few minutes, our waiter came over and said the kitchen had lost our ticket. Our food arrived and I cut into the pattie melt that was raw to rare. They took it back to the kitchen for a few mintues and sent it back out on the same bread, cheese and onions -it was beyond gross. And the onion rings were cold and nothing by greasy mush. My husband's dinner was just about the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. It looked like a can of vegetable soup on top of mashed potatoes. The waiter took off 2 of the samplers and 20% of the bill. I pointed out that my meal was still uncooked -he shrugged his shoulders and said "I know". We were at Brewpub for 2 hours and left hungry and disgusted. My worst meal at a fast food restaurant was better than place. Some places get another chance - it won't be this one!

The food it typical pub fare and decent, albeit overpriced. The beer, despite having won awards (don't know if there was any competition) is poor to mid. I've lived here for 20 years and have never had a great beer here. Good thing they sell O'Dells everywhere, now! Grab a burger to go and buy a six pack of O'Dells.

We were in town for a wedding and needed a place for a good, solid lunch with great value and good for kids (we had a toddler in tow). This brewery right by the river hit the spot even though it does seem like a little like a tourist trap (as other reviewers have noted). We wanted a classic burgers-and-fries place and they delivered. Sat out on the patio, which is shady in the early afternoon when they open for lunch. Very pleasant. Nice clean bathrooms too. Good for kids - high chairs and a kid's menu. We saw lots of families with kids. I ordered the Prime Rib Colorado Cheesesteak and it was delicious - moist, good flavors, not too salty, yummy cheese. Served with some kind of smoked homemade ketchup. Plentiful helpings of fries. My husband's pulled pork sandwich (with IPA BBQ sauce on a challah roll) was exactly what he wanted. He called it "awesome." One friend got the Game Time Burger (buffalo burger with elk jalapeno sausage) and he was underwhelmed with the flavor of the sausage - said it had no flavor - and the big super-salty spots in the burger. Our other friend had a buger with a gluten-free bun and loved it (they have a whole list of what's gluten-free on the menu, too). Good service at our table (though when we arrived the hosts and bartender all sort of ignored us for about 30 seconds while we just stood there wondering what to do). Our server was on his first week on the job and was great. We didn't even know. They overcharged us $1 for one of our add-ons and quickly corrected the mistake. Would return again (and would also like to try their beers) but might like to hear where the locals recommend too.

The beer at this brewery is very, very good! It was a few weeks ago that we went so I don't remember the exact name of our dishes however they were just okay. It tasted like mine was just reheated in the oven or microwave because parts of the food were cold. Hubby got fish and chips. He said they were "okay." Mine was some southwestern dish. Nothing was horrible but it wasn't the best either. Service was good. We sat by a large window facing the mountains and at Christmastime when everything outside is lit up and there is snow on the mountains, it's a beautiful view. We would go back for sure but we would just order appetizers!

It'll do! It's a tourist stop. It's not a place that brings the locals in regularly, it doesn't seem. But the food is a solid 7/10 (based on what I got, and what the lady got.) They've got a nice varying tap list, with suds from diversely different areas of the spectrum. Single Hop/Malt beers, Pales, Reds, Stouts, blondes -- they've got a little bit of everything. I tried a small sampler and quite enjoyed it. Only a few were notable enough to garner entry into my beer journal, but everything I had was at least decent. I felt when we left that things were a bit overpriced -- almost $50 for two entrees, a flight of samples, and a cocktail for the Lady seemed a bit steep. But, It's Glenwood Springs. There's not a whole lot by way of competition, you know? Either way, decent stop with fine grub and fine beers. Don't hesitate to stop in the next time you're passing through town!

We got the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with sweet potato tots, the bbq chicken ranch sandwich with fries, and the root beer made there with local honey. I must say this place was AMAZING. The pulled pork sandwich was the best I've ever had and the tots were delicious. Also, the root beer was so refreshing and tasty. I would 100% recommend this place and I would come again.

My mom and I found ourselves in Glenwood Springs over Thanksgiving weekend and stopped in at Glenwood Canyon Brewing for a light appetizer and a beer flight. The hummus was only so-so...I wouldn't recommend it; however, the beer was fantastic! I'm a sucker for a good pumpkin ale and find that most pumpkin beers are lacking in that fresh pumpkiny flavor...not this place, though! I LOVED their pumpkin ale! My only disappointment is that they didn't offer 6-packs to go.

    (4)
  • Laurie S.

Great beers - I tried the four beer sampler flight. The Hanging Lake Honey Ale was excellent, as were the other three I tried. We had the Hummus to start, which had black beans and corn in addition to the normal smooth chickpeas to add a little texture; it was served with celery, carrots, tortilla chips and very fresh pita bread. My son devoured the pub - style fish and chips. I had a dinner salad and the soup of the day, which was a yummy pork and green chile hearty soup. My husband had the very generous Mahi tacos. Everybody was happy and very satisfied! Nice way to wrap up a long hike around town.

Stepped into the Brewpub last night for a late meal. The service was lovely, but the food and the atmosphere was just okay. It could be that I've been spoiled by some of the more fun brewpubs in Denver, but it seemed much more restaurant than anything to do with beer. I ordered a prime rib panini, and it sounded delicious, horseradish mayo and all...what I got was a cheesesteak. I wasn't really expecting that from the description on the menu, and it was an ok cheesesteak. I also tried their beer cheese soup. I'm sure this isn't the case, and I hate to even suggest it knowing how seriously people take their soups...but it tasted premade. It more tasted nacho cheese than beer cheese...I probably wouldn't recommend that one. Onion rings were good, and my drink was fantastic--salty dog, delish. I would say it'd be good for groups, families, etc if you like diversity of choices and fair pricing.

Stopped at Glenwood Canyon Brewing for lunch after a morning of hiking. Was hoping to get a good burger, a few cold glasses of water and some great atmosphere. 1 out of 3 ... Is horrible. The burger was subpar. The best part of it was the bun. The side salad was wilted and was not paired with the dressing I ordered. The cold glass of water I was craving? Yep. Tasted like soap. And to top it all off our waitress acted as though she couldn't give a damn. The brewery itself is cute. Great exposed brick and large windows. Sadly, the building was the only highlight of my experience.

Very disappointed. When we were notified that our table was ready via text, we were headed to the host area, another group cut in front of us and the hostess took them to our table. After the hostess lied to us about the mix up, we were finally seated. We mentioned the dilemma to our waiter who said he would talk to the manager. Apparently the manager has not had any training in handling things, never took the time to come to our table to make things right and wouldn't allow the waiter to make things right either (not the waiters fault). Food was ok, but management really needs to work on customer service!!! On our way out we mentioned to the hostess that we were dissatisfied, she just stood there with a blank stare like she couldn't care less. Do not recommend.

Had a couple of great beers. The nut brown and the red were some of my favorites. We went on a busy Friday and chose to be seated at the bar, which despite many open tables still had a wait. We ordered beers, starters, and a main course meal. The starters came out in about 20 minutes and we munched away for another 15 minutes. At that point we asked the waiter if he even put in our meal order, and he had not. So we cancelled the order and just left because the starters were more than enough food. Even though we didn't get our food, I would still recommend this place because the beers and small dishes were good. Food on other tables looked good. Our waiter was extremely apologetic and gave us a free round to make up for his blunder...

Great place. Beers are amazing but the food is even better. I have eaten here at least 4 times and it is my "go to" glenwood eatery. Kid and large group friendly. Food is exceptional but atmosphere is casual- can't ask for more!

Was told we would have to wait 20 minutes, were sat in 10, our waiter was quick, remembered our entire order and was really personable! I got the Asian tuna salad (amazing and fresh) and the rest of our party got wonderfully prepared meals as well! Soups in the bread bowls are to die for! So delicious! The craft beers are also really good! We tried their pumpkin spice and it was delicious. Would love to come back here the next time we are in glenwood springs! Oh and our waiter was Eric! He's so professional so make sure you ask for him!

We had a great server, the resteraunt was clean, and we all enjoyed the food and beer. It's definitely a place we will go back to when we are in town. 5-stars was based on the quality of the food, service and price. I recommend the prime rib french dip and sweet potato tots.

Penny was a fantastic waitress! She greeted us right away, asking if we had been there before. We answered no, and she proceeded to explain the menu. She told us about the beer flights and we each tried one. We had barbacoa nachos and a pretzel for an afternoon snack. The food and the beer were fantastic. We had such good service that we went back the next evening for a full meal, I had fish and chips and my husband had the pulled pork sandwich, again the food was delicious. The service was not quite as friendly but still good.

Being in Colorado, home to so many great brew pub and local beers, I was looking forward to visiting Glenwood Canyon. I tasted 4 of their beers. All were weakly flavored and did not seem worthy of the numerous awards they display. The honey ale had almost no flavor. The IPA lacked hops, the red ale was ordinary. Only the pumpkin ale had any flavor. Also, for being brewed on the premises, they were very carbonated. The food was good. I had the cheese steak. At $13 it was overpriced for the quality. My wife had a special green chili soup that was delicious. The service was spotty. With a number of other restaurant choices in town we would not go back.

We hit up Glenwood Canyon Brewing once again on our trip up to the hot springs. It is a popular spot and if you get there later in the evening you can have quite a wait. They do have buzzers and a waiting area in the basement of the Hotel Denver that you can go and sit in comfy couches, watch TV and put in a drink order. So it makes the time go by a bit faster. Once in we were sat at a table next to the stairs. I would suggest if ever you are sat at this table you should ask to be moved. We had SEVERAL people fall down the stairs and almost take out the table while we ate. It really sucked! However, the food and beer was as good as I remember. I opted for the Chicken Enchiladas this time and they were a spicy treat, plus they come with that wonderful black bean and corn salad. The hubby stuck with Chicken Fried Steak and love it. And of course the stepson stuck with a burger and the picky eater ate it up - so it must be good. This time around I stuck mostly with the Hanging Lake Ale. I tried the hubby's Raspberry Wheat, but it wasn't a great batch. It was a busy place, but a fun spot to get a bite, have a beer and watch a game! Easy walk from the pedestrian bridge and located in the easy to find Hotel Denver - all good!

I was happily surprised with this Brewery. We each had a flight of 4 ~ 5oz "beers". I thought the Mead and Ciders were both marvelous. I loved the Brown and Red as well. The beer cheese soup made with the IPA was TO DIE FOR (says this Wisconsin native). I had the lunch special, which may well be the best darn Tuna Melt I have ever had. With avocado and bacon on it, it was just ...perfect! I'm really glad we stopped here!

A bit on the pricey side, but worth it. We enjoyed our lunch so much the first day, we went back the next. The burger is very tasty. I loved the black and blue salad. A great place to relax after an active day in the canyon.

Food was pretty decent, service was not that great..we got there before a table that was seated right next to us and they got helped before we did, and still took a while for someone to realize we hadn't been helped yet. All in all it was okay.

  • Erica A.

Raspberry beer had a nice after taste hint of raspberry.. Honey ale was light .. Onion rings were a flat taste ok but not great .. Nice atmosphere .. Was waiting list .. Small dinner salad was huge ..fish and ship was great.

Chicken enchiladas as well as canyon burger with added havarti! Great lunch with pairing beers! Sit by the window, great experience driving through!

We always come here when we visit Glenwood Springs. Excellent beer choices. We had the sampler this time with 8 different varieties. They have an excellent Portabello Mushroom sandwich plus a very good Shepard's pie.

Stopped here for a beer after dinner elsewhere and ordered their house IPA. It was neither good tasting nor cold enough. I would not buy another beer from this establishment.

    (2)

    (4)

Delish, not bar food at all. I had the special, smoked chix enchiladas. If the sauce wasn't made to order, they've got a phenomenal supplier. Come here every time I pass this way. Service is off the chart, ask for "tall" Jennifer and tell her Heath said hi!

The bison burger and raspberry wheat beer were amazing! As was the cheddar beer soup. Service was fast and the atmosphere relaxed.

I had my absolute worst customer service experience here. The food was fine and the beer was fine, but the bar service was terrible. Our table server was perfectly fine, but the bar staff and the manager on duty were hostile and unaccommodating. I will never return and hope you won't either

Haven't tried the beer yet as I was here for lunch but they have quite possibly the best BBQ and ranch chicken sandwich I've ever had. Delicious. Great atmosphere and bar, too.

  • Darrell S.

Yeah no, wouldn't recommend it. You'd get the same quality food at Denny's for much less. Service was good, food medeocre. The place lacks personality.

A good brewery with a decent food selection. And if you get to drunk - get a room as it's right upstairs at the Hotel Denver.

beer and food were ok... night bartender and manager on staff were off the charts hostile. for a tourist city, and therefore tourist restaurant, they seemed to appreciate their hometown customers more than visitors. did not feel welcome at all. waiters and waitresses were fine. the pasta dish I had was good. the pale ale I had was good.

If you like to try some interesting brews from this local brewery, I highly recommend this place. I haven't tried their food, but the bar and brewery provide a friendly atmosphere to pour down a few and socialize with the locals.

  • Chaz D.

  • Matthew M.

Enjoy!

Good beer and excellent service, friendly attentive and well trained. Recommend this place for a couple of beers. The IPA and the Dunkel were great. Nice little bar crowd too. We would go back.

  • Scooter M.

  • Sean K.

  • Frxa M.

Incredible service. Great brews-- only regret is that we wish we had been more hungry because the evening specials sounded amazing. Nevertheless, the Beer Cheese Soup and Bavarian Pretzels Sticks were a top notch bite. Can't wait to return.

    (2)
  • Ashley M.

We just sat at the bar because we wanted a couple of beers before we walked around the town and the beer was decent, nothing to write home about. We also ordered some sweet potato tots and they were mushy and cold so we did not eat them.

    (2)
  • Mark M.

Good food, decent beers, friendly service. I've had the prime rib here several times, lots of flavor and very tender. Nice atmosphere and reasonable prices, I'll definitely be back!

    (5)

Craft beers= A+ Food= A+ Staff= A+ I suggest the fish tacos and the nut brown ale. You won't be disappointed.

My sister and I split a tex mex burger which we thought was pretty good. The downfall was the poor/unfriendly service and the awful smell coming from the building next door- enough to make you loose your appetite.

    (2)

I got the tex mex burger. I liked my burger a lot. My daughter got the kids four cheese pizza and a bacon and cheese soup. She loved the soup but the pizza could have been better. My husband got the canyon burger and loved it! We would definitely come back!!!

  • Theresa M.

  • Stacy P.

  • Robin S.

    (2)

  • John D.

Great place for a beer. Food is not great but okay to wash a beer down with. Good service. Biggest sign in town. Really not bad, good price point, but more beer, less food.

We were a party of 6 and had to wait about 30 min for a table, but ordered some drinks and chicken wings from the bar and enjoyed them in the attached hotel lobby. The burgers were seasoned perfectly and the homemade buns were delicious.
